Happiness is that elusive thing that everybody is hoping to find. We all want to be happy and live a more fulfilling life. However, most people base their happiness on the wrong things.
You can be happy despite your situation. It all depends on your attitude.
Watch your thoughts
Your thoughts are very powerful. They affect your attitude, which in turn affects your mood and behavior. If you want to be happy, start thinking positively. Negative thoughts can creep in your head almost every day. However, you don’t have to give them space in your mind. Once a negative thought comes, get rid of it by reminding yourself that you want to be happy. Practicing this each day is one way of living a more amazing and happier life.
Practice forgiveness
Like the quote says, “unforgiveness is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die”. When you hold on to anger and grudges, you hurt yourself even more. You need to let go and refocus on yourself. Make the choice to be happy by choosing to let go of old resentments, grudges, and anger. Forgiveness is for you, not the other person.
Practice gratitude
Instead of complaining about what you don’t have, be thankful for everything you have. Keep in mind that someone out there would do so much better if they had your life. If you’re healthy, be thankful, someone is dying in his hospital bed. If you live in a peaceful neighborhood, be thankful, someone is surviving war in a certain country. Be thankful for your job, your family, your friends and all the good things in your life. Practice gratitude. This is one of the best secrets to living a more amazing and happier life.
OYA CHALLENGE
I challenge you to begin to be more happier each day. Start with creating a gratitude journal. For one (1) week, write down 5 things you are grateful or thankful for.
Being a more amazing and happier you is possible. You have what it takes to create the life of happiness you deserve. Every day, you have to decide to make the choice that you will be happy. Your circumstances and situations do not have to determine your happiness. You can be happier by watching your thoughts, practicing forgiveness, and being more grateful.
Until next time…
